Here is a ripping school story for girls on somewhat fresh lines. Barbara Felrow, the daughter of a deservedly unpopular mistress, is sent as a pupil to the very school where her mother taught before her marriage. Some of the staff and many of the girls are therefore up against Barbara from the very beginning. To make matters worse, she gets into the clutches of two unscrupulous girls who use her for their own ends. Linda Northcote, the Head Girl, has written a thrilling historical play for the end of term concert, and finding that Barbara is a born actress, she gives her the leading part in it, to the great disgust of the other members of the Third. Linda soon sees that things are not going well with Barbara, but thinks it better not to interfere, hoping that her acting will do more for her than even the Head Girl's championship. There is a mystery surrounding one of the maids, and quite by accident Barbara stumbles on the clue. In trying to save the School cups from burglars, she is seriously injured. During her illness everything is cleared up, and Barbara is generally voted a good sport. Sport plays a part in this thrilling story, which will hold all schoolgirls, and the way in which Barbara finally wins through will satisfy everyone who has any sense of fair play and sportsmanship.
