Annette was born in wartime Paris in 1940, and spent her early years in France, where she trained as a teacher and taught English to teenagers. After marrying Christopher, she moved to England where she has taught French and Italian to students of all ages. She and Christopher have 10 grandchildren, the oldest of whom gave the initial impulse for writing down the memories that form this book.
