Kam's first love was obstetrics but, due to the arduous lifestyle of an obstetrician and upon the encouragement of his professor, Kam decided to specialise in psychiatry instead. His love for working with children and young people led him to the subspecialty of child and adolescent psychiatry, and he has never looked back since. Kam enjoys his work and feels privileged to be a voice of positive influence in his patients' lives. Kam is married to his wife, Gracia, who is a retired medical practitioner. They have two married adult children and three beautiful granddaughters. Outside his work, Kam enjoys reading, learning new languages, cooking, growing vegetables, travelling and exploring nature with Gracia, and spending time with his family. He conducts prayer ministry with Gracia both in Sydney and overseas. He is a great believer in mission and is involved in teaching psychiatry and prayer ministry in Sydney and in areas overseas such as South East Asia and the Far East. Kam believes in the empowerment of the individual and in self-help. He shares his mental health knowledge and ongoing learnings with the general public at healthymindconcepts.com. He also has a dedicated website to explore the subject of mental health and spirituality: drkamwong.com. Kam hopes to spend more time writing books to further share his knowledge and experience outside of his clinical practice. He can be contacted at: drwong@drkamwong.com.
