When an unexplained king cake appears on the back step of The Silvered Page before Mardi Gras season officially begins, tarot reader Del Thibodeaux knows it is not just a gift. The plastic baby hidden inside is warm, touched by intention, and carrying a message Del does not yet understand.
Then journalist Rémy Valcourt arrives in Bellefleur, searching for answers about the death of his source, investigative reporter Céline Boudreaux. Officially, Céline's death was an accident. Rémy does not believe it. And when Del's cards point toward hidden knowledge, deception, and something unresolved, she begins to suspect that Céline found a truth someone in Bellefleur was desperate to bury.
The trail leads through Mardi Gras krewes, old money, parish secrets, missing ledgers, family grief, and the quiet places where Bellefleur has hidden what it does not want spoken aloud.
With Midnight watching from the shadows, Simone trying to keep Del grounded, and Rémy asking questions no outsider should know to ask, Del must follow the signs before the past claims another victim.
