Harry Boyle is determined to keep Sycamore Lane safe?even if his family would prefer that he spend Christmas Eve inside the house.

A string of professional burglaries has struck suburban neighborhoods across three cities, and Harry cannot shake the feeling that his street could be next. His neighbor Ralph Kane agrees, although Ralph also suspects government contractors, secret organizations, and possibly the Freemasons. Before Harry knows it, he has been appointed Primary Night Watch Commander of a security operation staffed by conspiracy theorists, amateur tacticians, elderly strategists, and his own unusually enterprising children.
