In 1947, an extraterrestrial spacecraft crashed in New Mexico, leaving two survivors stranded on Earth. Their distress signal was received, documented, reviewed, challenged, reassigned, delayed, and buried beneath enough interstellar bureaucracy to outlast a human lifetime.
Now scout officer Zek and technical specialist Ruum have finally been dispatched to bring them home. Unfortunately, their overly confident navigation system decides that Roswell, Georgia, is statistically more promising than Roswell, New Mexico.
Their arrival in a Baptist church parking lot during Wednesday-night choir practice is only the beginning.
The missing crew members may actually have passed through Georgia after escaping government custody. Two mysterious graves, a guarded county history, and a family carrying an inheritance it does not understand suggest the rescue mission has reached the right place for entirely the wrong reason.
But Zek and Ruum are not the only ones investigating. Federal agents Wren Calloway and Dale Pruitt are following an impossible satellite signature toward Roswell. Someone else has been watching the county for decades. And when the aliens attempt to broadcast a beacon from the town's annual Hootenanny Festival, something hidden beyond Earth answers.
To complete their mission, Zek and Ruum must navigate suspicious officials, curious church ladies, local law enforcement, Southern hospitality, a dangerous extraterrestrial presence, and the possibility that an old Georgia legend about the Devil and a golden fiddle contains more truth than anyone realizes.
