You can love God, know the Bible, and even serve at church, yet still be held captive by lies you don't realize you believe.
Your REAL ID is an invitation to embark on a personal journey of discovery and purpose. You'll learn to replace the lies you've believed about yourself with the truth of what God says about you. Jesus said, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32).
Inside, you'll find a Bible study built on the truth, chapter and verse, that empowered me to break free from shame, addiction, fear, anxiety, and toxic thinking. Often, the lies of the enemy sound a lot like your own thoughts. As you read, you'll be empowered to take those thoughts captive and replace them with the truth of God's Word.
For twenty years as a believer, I lived in bondage to lies implanted in me as a child. Then, in May 2019, I had a radical encounter with God, and I learned that knowing the Bible isn't enough: you have to believe that you ARE who HE says you are.
Throughout this journey, you'll discover twenty-nine biblical truths about who you are in Christ and learn to see yourself the way God sees you. Truth you can build your life on.
Along the way, you'll learn:
- what God says to the feeling that nobody truly understands you or truly loves you
- why your identity has never been based on what you do, and how to stop living to prove yourself
- whether God still loves you when you keep failing, and the difference between guilt and shame
- how the father you grew up with (or didn't) shaped the picture of God you carry
- why so many believers live far below what God has already provided for them
I'll also share my own story: the lies I believed, the encounter that changed everything, and the faithfulness of God at every step. The book moves in three parts of seven chapters, with a built-in rest at each seventh chapter, because we don't change our identity by striving. We change it by resting in the finished work of Christ.
Every chapter ends with reflection questions, a prayer, and a For Your Group block, with a Leader Guide included, so you can walk it out with your small group, book club, or church class. No experience needed.
