Zusammenfassung

Transforming Music Conservatories and Higher Music Education provides a groundbreaking framework for reconceptualizing professional responsibility in music education during an era of global upheaval and environmental crisis.

Through eleven chapters combining theoretical insights and practical case studies, this collection delivers powerful tools for institutional transformation using systems thinking. Readers gain concrete strategies for moving beyond traditional notions of musical autonomy toward an expanded understanding of professional responsibility that addresses sustainability, social justice, and ecological awareness. The book demonstrates how conservatories and higher music education institutions can become agents of change by reconsidering their fundamental assumptions and redesigning educational settings to nurture transformative music professionalism. Music educators, institutional leaders, administrators, and researchers in conservatories and higher music education will find this volume essential for navigating contemporary challenges.

The book serves as a valuable resource for undergraduate and postgraduate programs across performance studies, instrumental pedagogy, music teacher education, arts administration, and cultural policy. Its transdisciplinary approach also makes it relevant to scholars in other arts disciplines seeking new perspectives on institutional change and professional responsibility in times of societal transition.
